Xanax and Ativan for One Time Use?

0 votes
Hi,
I am have great anxiety about a 10 hour flight I have to take on Monday. I have Ativan, but find it takes too long to work, and I am out of it for almost 24 hours, taking 1mg 2 hours before the flight, and another half (under tounge) entering the plane. Is xanax better? this is suppose to last for the whole flight, as I am in such a state of fear the whole time. I took 1mg of xanax at home as a test about 1 hour ago, I feel a little tired, nothing else. What should I do? Again, this is just for flying, I don't take it regularly.
Thank you,
Mary

Xanax and Ativan both belong to the group of medicine called benzodiazepine.  These drugs are prescribed to treat anxiety disorders or anxiety associated with symptoms of depression by slowing down the movement of chemicals in the brain causing the reduction in nervous tension (anxiety) and leads to little sedation.

If you have anxiety issues, visit your doctor so that you will be given the correct medicines and dosage based on your needs.  These drugs must be taken under the prescription of your doctor.  Never self medicate because this will lead to serious danger.  Also, never ever overdose!

Lastly, Xanax and Ativan must not be used if you are pregnant or lactating.
