How Long Will This Brownish Discharge Last?

I am new in this forum and I haven't read all the topics, so forgive me if this has been asked before.

 
I have been in perimenopausal stage for 3 1/2 years, my doctor agreed that it was probably perimenopausal when I talked and described what was happening.

 
My period slowed from 5 days down to 3 days and it has been 2 years. I just had my period and it was not ordinary and I am worried. My cycle goes from a day of pinkish discharged, about 2 days of bleeding, slight on the 2nd day, followed by brownish discharged that has HORRIBLE odour, assuming it is old blood. My period was supposed to end 4 or 5 days ago, and I am still experiencing the discharge, I think I would rather have a 5 day period! I was wondering if anyone has experienced this and how long it lasted. Thanks for the help.
