It is always spread through sexual contacts with persons with syphilis infection. It can also be passed though mother to her baby during pregnancy. Using a condom is a sure way of preventing syphilis while using ‘dental dams’ when having oral sex. Covering of syphilis sores wit a bandage can also curb its spread.
