I was diagnosed 2 years back with cough variant asthma. In the following months, I developed a cold which aggravated my asthma and I had a full blown attack. I had been on Pulmicort from the beginning but was shifted to Advair after the attack. It was during the attack that I experienced wheezing for the first time. I went to see an allergist who examined me and said I was wheezing. He made me blow out forcefully so that I could hear myself wheeze. I must say I’m pretty confused though. Fact is I was feeling quite alright at that time.
Meanwhile I’ve been doing well on Advair; my asthma is well under control. It’s only when I’m outdoors during certain seasons that I feel the symptoms cropping up. This is more so during the time pollen is in abundance in the air. I am terribly allergic to pollen, I believe.
I don’t feel sick at all even while I’m wheezing a bit. Maybe it’s because I can tolerate the wheeze and not the cough. Can be that my asthma’s changed from cough variant to wheezing? That is a scary thought. I know how to control the coughing, but the wheezing is quite alien to me. I don’t know what to do when I get a bad attack. I’ve been on a host of drugs. Advair, Singulair, Maxair, Claritin and Nasacort are some of them. Recently, my doctor increased my Advair dosage.
Does anybody have anything more to contribute to my limited knowledge?
