I am attempting to find out some facts about asthma. My son who is twenty years old has been found to be suffering from asthma recently. Both of us are also victims of severe sinus complications. The previous month was really horrendous for both of us. He has been prescribed some drugs, but I really do not know what to do about my case. I am suffering from severe breathing trouble and feel as if something is closed around my lungs and I have begun coughing persistently and I also produce whitish phlegm. I am unable to sleep at night with my persistent coughing till I get so tired that I am not able to wake up even to cough. I am able to close my eyes for only about three hours and then I start coughing once more and get breathless again. The early mornings and evenings are so bad for me. I have decided to consult my family doctor and see if he can help me in any way. I would like to know whether this is actually asthma and if it is how to combat these attacks? My son has been given three inhalers, two of which are not really effective, but Advair is quite effective for him. He is also using Singulair. I have no idea about all these inhalers and how you use them and so on. I will have to wait for about two days before I will be able to see my doctor and would be extremely grateful if you could suggest some remedy for the time being to tide over my problem till I see my doctor. Please do help me out with my problem if you can as soon as possible as I am really getting desperate with my condition.
