Will the Long-term Use of Asthma Medications Soon Causes Health Problems?

I think I was faced to asthmatic issues since the age of five. I was using inhalers like primatine till last two years as my doctor used to quit them. They really worked well on me and I suppose this is the reason for which I didn’t have any discussion regarding my asthma to any doctors. I think for using the medicine over 20 years would have harmed my health. I experience a very irritating heart burn and also problems with GURD. Can all these problems be caused by the usage of the drug? Will my heart be safe if I continue taking the medicine or should I stop it forever?
