Consulting an Allergist To Control My Daughter's Asthma

0 votes
I had been to an allergist for my daughter to get a ‘back scratch’ test. Since her infancy, my daughter had been suffering from severe allergies. The paediatrician, whom we were consulting before was of the opinion that consulting an allergist was totally unnecessary. My daughter has also been suffering from eczema so it came as a shock to learn that she has been suffering from asthma.
When I think of asthma, I used to think of my colleague’s son who used to get severe asthma attacks. This boy had been on the verge of death sometimes when asthma attacks used to come upon them severely. But my daughter’s case is far different from this one. Nevertheless, the intensity does not lessen any. I cannot believe that children of my child’s age, nine years, can be affected with asthma to this intensity. My child can run about as she wishes, play and still remain without getting an asthma spell. The consultant allergist is of the opinion that eczema or allergies and asthma often go hand in hand.
As of now, what bothers me about my child is that she is under two aspirating medicines. In addition to it, she also takes a steroid suspension. This is at the same time that she also takes four other medicines which she has been using to keep the eczema and allergies in control. She has to take the peak flow readings almost every day. When she was asked to take the back scratch, I was pretty sure that the result would be something like that she is allergic to each and every material around her. The result revealed that she is allergic to grass, every tree in the compound, animal fur, dust particles as well as mold.
