Do Asthmatic People Like Me Normally Have Breathing Problems At Night?

0 votes
This is the first time that I am making a post to this website. For a long time, I have been wondering about something that is happening to me. I would like to know if I am the only one in the world with this or if there is a sufficient number of people. This has been my concern for over a while and this is actually frightening me a lot.
I have been suffering from the problem of bronchial asthma. I would be on Proventil as and when the need comes. For the very severe allergies that I suffer from time to time, I have been on these medications called Zyrtec and Claritin almost on a daily basis. I always feel congested in my chest. The drainage that comes out from the sinuses, especially when it is so severe, will be such that it will induce a very bad asthma attack. I would end up struggling with the latest fit of asthma at the same time coughing a lot.
And I do get some kind or the other problems whenever I want to sleep at night. Though I am conscious of what is happening to me for most of the time, I try to sleep through it. In the spring, I wake up almost daily congested and coughing, caused mainly by the drainage. And whenever this happens, I have come to note that my heart rate also increases rapidly. I can literally feel my heart beating rapidly.
My husband told me a few days back that my breathing is completely irregular. He felt as if I was struggling hard to breathe in the night. According to him, the breathing sounds as if I am getting strangled or suffocated. But I do not snore at all; instead I struggle myself to inhale through my nose and my mouth. Most often than not, I do encounter problems in getting the air through the nose. My husband remarked that it is somewhat scary to see me breathing. Sometimes, he would wake me up while sleeping which I cannot remember at all. And while falling back to sleep again, it is all calm only to struggle again. Later, he decided not to wake me up again. My husband began to get concerned over my breathing troubles. At the same time, once I wake up the next morning, I would appear completely normal. I do not feel sick or tired at all. I would like to know if anyone has had the same or similar kind of experience before. It is also alright if you can share the experience of anyone whom you know. All I want to know if my case is a singular one or not. I would like to know if my breathing irregularities might affect my heart or not.

if it will make you feel better, difficulty of breathing at night is among the symptoms of asthma so chances are you are not the only one experiencing this. but you must report this observation to your doctor because it may indicate under dosage or a need for a different drug.
