Have You Experienced Any Wheezing While Engaging In a Sexual Activity?

0 votes
I have a very private and sensitive question and I hope I am not doing wrong by posting it here. I am a 47-year old with asthma more or less under control with the use of Advair and Rhinocort. My asthma is not very severe but the last few times, my husband and I had sex and I have found myself wheezing so badly that it becomes really terrible. I guess this is sort of similar to exercise induced asthma. Do you think that I need to use the emergency inhaler about half an hour before we indulge in sex? As I am typing this I can feel the wheezing coming on, so do excuse me when I go and take a puff from my inhaler. Has anyone experienced anything like this?

Wheezing in asthmatics during sex may be caused by the activity itself (similar to how exercise induces asthma), allergy to latex condoms or, in a few cases, human seminal plasma allergy. It can also be an indication that your asthma is poorly controlled. You are not the only who reported this problem. In the Reducing Emergency Asthma Care In Harlem Project, researchers found that sex ranked as the third most important limitation reported by asthma patients. Asthma that is experienced during a sexual activity can be prevented by taking asthma medication before sex. It is best that you bring this problem up to your doctor in your next visit so that he or she can check again if you’re getting proper treatment.
