I had been suffering a severe cold, cough and tightness in the chest and it looked like the very same symptoms that I had gone through when I had contracted Pneumonia some two years ago. They took an X-ray at the clinic and a relapse of pneumonia was ruled out. I was prescribed an antibiotic just in case I had some infection, along with the Albuterol inhaler. I was also prescribed a cough medication that contained codeine which I understand makes you cough up all the phlegm in the chest. During the period that I had Pneumonia, the doctor had found some nodules in my lungs and he assumed that they will disappear when I got better but those nodules are still there and I think I should get my chest scanned to make sure that they have not become bigger. I felt miserable for a whole week and even visited the primary center in my locality when I found that I still continued to wheeze. The doctor gave me a breathing treatment and taught me the right method to use the inhaler. My son who is now 16 years old is using the inhaler where he could have told me how to go about using regularly and he could have told taught me. I do not really know how to handle the situation and I wonder whether this wheezing will ever go away completely. When I asked my son if he wheezes all the time he replied in the negative. I wanted to enquire of my doctor whether I had either bronchitis or asthma. I have the feeling that the cough medication does not suit me because I woke up in the wee hours of the morning with a severe headache and sweating profusely. I have stopped taking that anyway.
