I am a victim of asthma and a new comer to this site. I was found to be suffering from asthma since the age of eight years. So, I have been having a lot of experience with this illness since more than twenty years now but my problem is that my six year old child is extremely ill and we have not been able to help her in any way.
She was found to be an asthmatic when she was three years old and has been on maintenance drugs ever since then but we find that her condition is deteriorating every winter. She has been using 4mg of Singulair for over a year now. We also give her Flovent and alternate it with Pulmicort as and when necessary. This winter, she is on Singulair 4mg, Advair twice a day, Viravan two times and we had on around three courses of Prednisone in the two month span. We have also started nebuliser treatments every four to six hours till she becomes better and two therapies of preventives. I am really getting desperate about this condition of hers with so many medicines. I really feel that this is the extreme for a six year old to bear. Why is it that she is not getting better despite her being on so many drugs? Is this quite usual and is she being given the ideal therapy? We would be very grateful if someone could shed some light on this matter and help my little child out of the misery she is experiencing as soon as possible.
