I consulted an allergy specialist today and was under the impression that I would be told to undergo different tests and it would be revealed that I was suffering from several allergies but to my surprise, I was told that I was suffering from minor asthma instead. I always am suffering from a cough which is persistent and my results of the lung capacity test were not very good. I was told to blow into a tube connected to a computer. I want to know whether this is an objective diagnosis. I want to know whether your numbers are within a certain level and then you are diagnosed to be asthmatic or whether it is a subjective diagnosis where your signs of asthma or problems are looked into and the diagnosis is made. I do not suffer from any difficulty in breathing so I would like to know whether anybody has been found to be asthmatic without suffering from any breathing trouble. I only am a victim of an irritating cough. I am forty seven years old and am in basically good health so I really do not know whether I should accept this doctor’s diagnosis and start having the drugs prescribed by her or whether I should go in for a second opinion. I would be extremely grateful if someone could shed some light on the matter as soon as possible and clear my quandary for me. I am now very confused as what I should do about my problem.
