What Treatment Should I Try for the Constriction In Airways?

I am a victim of asthma and even though my PFT are in the normal ranges, my doctor is giving me a therapy for asthma but I feel as if my problem is more associated with my trachea and airway tract. I experience a severe swelling in my throat which extends all the way to my bronchia. I am now having 3000mg of Guafsein which helps me to bring out my phlegm but that constricted feeling that I am suffering from is not subsiding whatever I do. I feel as if a big rope is tied round my ribs and airways and have no idea what can be done to make this feeling go away. So I would be extremely grateful if someone could shed some light on what exactly I am suffering from and what is the solution if there is any to this problem.
