What's the Best Way To Diagnose Edema?

0 votes
I did my pulmonary check-up last week but it was not completed. My doctor said that he wants to check whether I have edema or not. I thought there will be a separate test for finding out edema. I asked my doctor about this and his answer seemed really funny. He is going to check edema by pressing his finger on my legs. How can this possible? Is there no other method to find out edema? Has anyone checked asthma in this way?

Are you referring to pulmonary edema? Edema in the extremities are assessed by pressing one's finger on the legs or arms. If it forms a pit, then edema is confirmed. With regards to pulmonary edema, you may feel that you are drowning.
