Is It Possible for Someone To Be Suddenly Allergic To Cats?

0 votes
I am pretty new to this kind of boards. I am eagerly looking forward to use this forum to gather information and at the same time, share experiences with me as well as mutually. Several years ago, I was diagnosed with severe asthma. The cause of my asthma was a sinus infection and my asthma is an adult onset kind of asthma and it started when I was entering my adulthood. At that time, I neglected it thinking that it would go away or subsequently get healed but it gradually developed into an attack of full scale asthma. Lately, I have no problems with my sinuses and they have been pretty fine but recently, I think that I have a nasal congestion which started out as a small bout of cold. Do a lot of asthma people have this problem in general or is it only me? I was just wondering whether you can get allergic to something very different like a cat though you never had any kind of allergy. The next time I visit my doctor, I am going to ask him about this question. I really do want to know the answer to these kind of questions whether we can be allergic to cats or not but I would also like to inform you on the things that my doctor may not even be aware of because the internet helps a lot now a days as it is fully loaded with all the essential information. I have been rearing cats and have no extreme reaction to it. I sometimes go on for weeks without any symptoms of asthma. I really do not know whether this effect should be considered as an issue or not. I have tried looking for the information related to allergic to cats on the internet but I cannot find what I have been looking for and if there are any medicine that is available which might help with the multiple allergies.
Please also note that my asthma occurs usually once in a week. Can anyone of you provide me a solution to the problem I am facing and also provide me information regarding allergy to cats?  Thank you for providing any kind of information. I plan to go to any allergist if my doctor thinks that it is warranted to visit him to resolve my issue.
