Should My Daughter Be Taken To a Specialist for Her Asthma and Allergy Problems?

0 votes
I have a four year old daughter who has been a victim of asthma ever since she was one year old. She had to be hospitalized five times and each time, they found her to have contracted pneumonia along with her asthma. Her biggest problem is her oxygen levels. The doctors have to try all kinds of drugs to hike it at least to about eighty seven for days together. She is now on Pulmicort two times a day, Albuterol as and when necessary and Oraped. She usually had all these drugs during the cold fall. She has been visiting an allergist since July and he says that she is allergic to about 75 of the 88 items tested. She was hospitalized this time in spite of her undergoing two allergy injections every week. I am quite unhappy with her doctor as he did not bother to visit her for about five days after she was hospitalized. I am now getting extremely desperate about her condition and really do not know what to do next. We had asked that doctor about switching her over to Xopenex as it had lesser adverse effects and he just could not care less about it. My husband is extremely angry with this doctor’s attitude and we are planning to change her doctor soon but my doubt is whether she should be taken to a Pulmonologist or to another allergy specialist itself. I would be very grateful if someone could shed some light about this matter at the earliest and help us out of the quandary that we are facing with our daughter.
