I went to get my persistent cough treated and found out that I have bronchitis. My usual Allegra dosage was corrected to 180 mg. I was given a z pac antibiotic and I was also given 2 nebulizer treatments with albuterol in it. The doctor felt that I sounded better after that but I was back to the same breathless condition in a short span of two hours. According to the doctor, my lower lungs were badly affected and almost no air was passing through it. My school nurse confirmed this saying that both the left as well as the right lobe were severely affected. There was a considerable amount of congestion they said.
The doctors confirmed my case as asthma because the delayed exhalation and wheezing associated with asthma patients was quite evident in my case. I was always doubtful about this and ignored my breathing problems thinking it was my imagination playing havoc. Therefore, I left it untreated for a while. It was only when the breathing difficulty prevented me from doing any strenuous activity that I decided to see a doctor.
I also did some research on my own regarding bronchitis. I actually wanted to know if mine was a chronic case. On searching the internet, I was shocked to know that the symptoms were similar to mine. It mentioned an irritant mucousy cough persisting over a few months, constant infections, labored breathing and etc.
On further reading articles regarding this, I became very anxious because it mentioned that in later stages, the lungs would start deteriorating and emphysema would set in and finally the person would develop heart failure if proper treatment was not administered.
Can anybody give me any ideas, suggestions and etc.?
