I have to be on prednisone to breathe normally. There is a lot of talk about the harmful effects of prednisone. Can someone please update me on this? In my case, it’s as if I have no choice. I have tried a number of other drugs and treatments and have never found such relief before. I have been on short 5-day bursts of 80 mg treatments to 3 week slow wean treatments. It was difficult to figure out what exactly was wrong with me and no medication was working. Then, I decided to get allergy shots. These did help for a while but unfortunately, I developed pneumonia due to the cold during Christmas and am still in the recovery process. Naturally, the allergy shots had to be discontinued. The only option was to latch onto prednisone. To top it all, I’ve been diagnosed with something new namely laryngeal asthma. It’s got something to do with my allergy to pollen/plants. How I can function normally is beyond my comprehension because this a time of the year when all plants are wonderfully in bloom. So can someone please update me on the harmful effects of prednisone? Is there any alternative to it?
