Hello to one and all. I am quite new to this board and I am here to get some of my questions answered. Sometime in the summer of last year we brought home a cat as a pet. Five months down the line, I found that I was having trouble breathing and my wife got me Primatene Mist and upon using it, I was able to sleep through the night. The next day, I consulted the doctor and he told me never to use Primatene Mist ever again. Well, I followed his advice. He prescribed Albuterol and Azmacort and said that the first thing I had to do was to get rid of the cat. I have not packed the cat off and am on the third of Azmacort and fourth deal of Albuterol. I realize that I keep taking small puffs of Albuterol on a daily basis and I do not take Azmacort regularly, only when I think it is necessary. Do any of you feel that I am causing damage to myself by using so many puffs of Albuterol a day? I think have developed reactions to one of the two drugs. I know I am getting irritable and I am distressed when I am not using it. Has anyone experienced any of these side effects either on Azmacort or Albuterol?
Now the other question is whether having a cat at home will aggravate the asthma and is the effort worth it? I am 39 years old and I want to know if I am harming myself down the line when I do that? I was a smoker once but quit in the beginning of the year and have not smoked since then. Looking forward to some replies from some of you and I would like to thank you in advance for the answers.
