How Long Does It Take for Losartan To Work In Your System? What About Alcohol Use?

I just switch BP drugs from Lisinopril to Losartan.  How long does it take for the Losartan to show its effect in your body.  My BP is high now at 140/100 and it was lower with Linsinopril.

What effect does drinking alcohol have on your system while taking Losartan.

The onset of Losartan is unknown. However, it peaks in your blood 1 hour after taking it. To reach the maximum efficacy of the drug, it will take 3 to 6 weeks. For the meantime (while taking the drug as prescribed), try to control your blood pressure in other ways (diet modification, limit stress and strenuous activities, smoking and alcohol intake).

Although there is no drug-lifestyle interaction between alcohol and Losartan, alcohol is not encouraged for hypertensive individuals. Alcoholic beverage contributes to increased blood pressure and interferes with the absorption of other medications (if you are taking any). But, if you really want to, drink moderately. If you're younger than 65, you can have 2 drinks (two 360ml of beer or two 150ml wine). If you'e age is above 65, you can only have 1 drink (360ml of beer or 150ml wine).
