Pericarditis is a condition that is characterized by the inflammation of the pericardium caused by viral infections such as coxsackie and adenovirus. Fungal infection can also be the cause.

Men are most likely to be affected with this kind of condition that is followed by a respiratory infection.

Here are the Symptoms of Pericarditis:

- chest pain due to the rubbing of inflamed pericardium against the heart
- when lying down you experience difficulty with breathing
- dry cough
- difficulty in swallowing
- hiccups
- swelling of ankle, feet and legs
- fatigue
- fever
- anxiety
- splinting of ribs when breathing
