A newborn's skin is at least 30% thinner than that of an adult and has an underdeveloped protective moisture barrier. This is why it can lose moisture faster than adult skin. Bathing too often can be one of the culprits causing dry, irritated skin. It is for this reason that moms are often advised to bathe their babies every three or four days. Just make sure you keep his face and diaper area thoroughly clean, especially after changing.

Daily baths are said to be given when the baby is old enough to crawl around and get dirty, sweaty, and messy. However, in places where the condition is warm and/or humid, your baby may still need a quick bath once daily.
